Who qualifies
You have to meet both an age requirement and an income requirement. You can also meet the age requirement through a spouse who lives with you, and some surviving spouses qualify. The city's page lists the exact ages and income limits.
If your tax goes down because of a lower assessment or a lower tax rate, the amount you owe goes down too.
How to apply
Download the application from the city's page and fill in the household income section. Mail it with proof of age and proof of income for you or your spouse. Residents of cooperative buildings use a separate co-op application.
